In a world where people are physically imortal, things lose value and become quickly dull.
To counter this, The Kantajians studied atoms and quickly discovered how to bend reality and time.
However, they lacked one thing : Creativity.
With knowledge being an easy thing to get when you can bend time and reality, Kantajians quickly orientated themselves towards arts to find a meaning to what we would call a life. However, without creativity, they figured out that they couldn't create anything aesthetically pleasing.
To counter that, Kantajians developped techniques to create small worlds from scratch in which they add a few seeds at random, a bacteria here, a thicker atmosphere there, and with their ability to bend time, see those worlds develop quickly. Rules are put in place so Kantajians cannot observe another Kantajian's world.
Eventually, a civilization will develop and create art itself, from which Kantajians then steal ideas to basically, look the best they can.
Through this process, rituals begin to find who is worthy or reproducing, an act that creates a new Kantajian, but sacrifices the parents, allowing them to reach mortality at last, as well as transfering art knowledge to their offspring.
Having some fun during lunchbreak + a bit of detail after work.
